      Hi,

      Our client has flagged that on mobile it shows “error: user denied request for geolocation”. I know this is linked to the phone settings, but is there a way around this as it can look a bit worrying for a potential customer. I also have put a map and search on the homepage so it flags this straight away.

      I can see on desktop browser it gives you the prompt so you can choose to accept but mobile seems to skip this step.

      Looking for any suggestions.

      Thanks,
      Kirsty

      @Cyan Marketing,

      Thank you for reaching out to us. The error you are experiencing on mobile is likely due to your device supporting geolocation, but the mobile browser being unable to access it. While we utilize the Google Maps API, we do not have control over its geolocation functionality.

      However, for assistance in resolving this issue, please refer to the documentation here: https://m.envirate.net/help/geolocation/.

      If you have any further questions, please let us know.

      Thanks for your reply, is there a way to get the maps not to try to use it and only go on input into the search bar?

    • #236141

      @Cyan Marketing, Thank you for reaching out to us. Currently, in our default flow, we utilize the Google Maps API to fetch the user’s current address while browsing the page. As a result, the vendor list displays the vendors nearest to that location. Additionally, there is an option to enter a specific location in the search bar, which adjusts the displayed vendors accordingly.

      If you would like to modify this flow so that the map remains hidden until a location is entered, you will need to implement custom code on your end. You may reach out to our service team here https://multivendorx.com/custom-development/ for assistance with your custom requirement.

      If you have any further query please do let us know.

      Are you able to advise the range of how much that might cost?

      Can I just double check that it is expected that on desktop browser it will ask the prompt to allow or block location. But the mobile doesn’t prompt and just has an error message and then no map shows? It does look bad like something has gone wrong, especially if someone wasn’t very tech savvy.

      Thanks.

      Hi @Cyan Marketing, I completely understand your concern. However, our plugin does not control the Google Map API settings. Also the error you are experiencing on mobile is likely due to your device supporting geolocation, but the mobile browser being unable to access it.

      Now for custom requirements, please feel free to reach out to our service team here – https://multivendorx.com/custom-development/. They will be glad to assist you with your specific needs.
