Please, would it be possible to manage the language files better. Indeed, some plugins (including WC Marketplace) often have several files (.pot or .po / .mo files), and the strings are not identical! I often lose a lot of translation work because depending on the updates the strings sometimes differ by nearly 500 lines !!

Example of the day:

I just updated WC Marketplace: v3.7.1 to v3.7.2

My current settings for v3.7.1 (dc-woocommerce-multi-vendor-fr_FR.po & .mo) has 2109 of 2109 strings translated.

The new version v3.7.2 has 2 different language files (dc-woocommerce-multi-vendor.pot & dc-woocommerce-multi-vendor-fr_FR.po & .mo)

– dc-woocommerce-multi-vendor.pot has 1865 files (if I use it, I lost 244 strings translated)
– dc-woocommerce-multi-vendor-fr_FR.po & .mo has 1486 of 2003 strings translated, if I use it no difference because all 2003 strings are already translated).

What’s wrong with .pot file ? Isn’t this the file I’m supposed to use to update my language files?

@pSyalvia, .pot file used to translate text. It is a must need to translate text. You can change any text by using loco plugin/ or any other third-party plugin.

Now, dc-woocommerce-multi-vendor-fr_FR.mo/po file provided by our client. When they create the translation, we just add them in our plugin. It is useful whenever you change the site language to that language. This way, when the Client changes their language from english to Frace, WCMp will be automatically translated inti this.

Thank you Moumita, I always only use .pot files in any plugins.

Sorry but the question is: Why FR language files has more strings than original SOURCE .pot file?

Can you confirm me I can update my FR languages files with the .pot file included in original latest version of WC Marketplace, which will have the effect of removing about 250 strings from my FR .mo/.po files.

pSyalvia, the FR languages has been provided by our users so,we can’t say for sure why he/she has added those extra lines.

WC Marketplace officially supports 1,865 strings.
