      Hi MultivendorX Team,

I hope you’re well! We’re in the process of setting up our WooCommerce marketplace using MultivendorX, and I’d like to confirm whether the shipping approach we’ve planned can be configured out of the box—or if additional plugins or customizations are required. I have gone through your videos on shipping, while it answer some questions, I remain unsure how it all applies to our situation.

      Here’s our shipping strategy…

      General Setup:
Vendors will handle the actual shipping process directly (packing, shipping, etc.).
However, we need to collect shipping costs from customers at checkout based on our rules and pass this information to vendors via the MultivendorX platform.

      Shipping Rules:
      1) Non-Bulky Items:
Flat shipping rates are calculated based on the customer’s postal code and fit into one of three zones:
      Metro: $[X]
      Regional: $[Y]
      Remote: $[Z]
Free shipping applies for orders above $[W] basket value. The shipping fee is one flat fee per order, regardless of how many vendors are involved.

      2) Bulky Items:
Bulky items will have separate shipping costs per product, which will be defined by vendors based on the shipping zones (Metro, Regional, Remote).
These bulky shipping costs will be displayed as separate charges at checkout.
Free shipping thresholds do not apply to bulky items; customers will always pay a shipping fee for bulky products.

Where I need your help / key questions:
Can this approach be configured directly using MultivendorX?
Are there any additional plugins or configurations we’d need to:
      • Handle the flat-rate rules for non-bulky items across multiple vendors in a single order?
      • Enable vendors to input bulky item shipping costs dynamically per product and zone?
      • Does MultivendorX already support separating bulky item shipping fees at checkout?

Any guidance or recommendations on how best to achieve this setup would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need any clarification or additional details.

      Thank you!

      Sean

Hi @sean-7927, Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing the details of your requirements. We appreciate the effort you’ve put into outlining your shipping strategy. Let me provide clarity on how MultiVendorX can support your setup and where customizations might be necessary.

      General Setup:
With the various shipping modules in MultiVendorX, the admin can allow vendors to set shipping rules and costs directly from their dashboard. Alternatively, the admin can configure shipping settings through WooCommerce, which will apply globally. Once the modules are enabled, vendors can manage their shipping configurations independently for their products.

      Addressing Your Shipping Rules:
      1. Non-Bulky Items:
      — Using the Shipping by Zone module(https://multivendorx.com/docs/knowledgebase/shipping-by-zone/), you can define zones with different shipping methods and assign postal codes to these zones (https://tinyurl.com/258s8o8r). Vendors can then configure shipping rates for these zones from their dashboards.
      — Free shipping for orders above a specified basket value can also be configured in this module (https://tinyurl.com/22qe78ro).
However, MultiVendorX currently does not offer a default option to combine flat-rate shipping for multiple vendors in a single order. To achieve this, customizations would be required.
      2. Bulky Items:
With Per Product Shipping (available in MultiVendorX Pro), vendors can define shipping costs for individual products. This module supports defining rates per product (https://multivendorx.com/docs/knowledgebase/per-product-shipping/).
At present, MultiVendorX does not have a built-in option to separate bulky item shipping fees at checkout or to enforce different rules like excluding free shipping thresholds for bulky items. This functionality would require additional customizations.
      Recommendations:
      — Flat-rate rules for non-bulky items across multiple vendors in a single order:
This would require a combination of the Shipping by Zone module and some custom logic to calculate and apply a single flat rate for orders involving multiple vendors.

      — Dynamic bulky item shipping costs per product:
The Per Product Shipping module in MultiVendorX Pro will allow vendors to configure this.

      — Separating bulky item shipping fees at checkout:
While MultiVendorX can display shipping fees separately for each vendor, creating a distinction specifically for bulky items would need customization.

      Next Steps:
We recommend exploring our demo site and documentation to get a better understanding of the available configurations:
      Admin https://multivendordemo.com/mvx/wp-admin
      vendor https://multivendordemo.com/mvx/my-account/

This will help you assess how much of your setup can be achieved with our default flow and identify areas that would need customization.

If you have any additional questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
