ParticipantHi MVX Team,
We’re using MVX Pro on our WordPress + WooCommerce site and setting up a model where we (the admin) create membership subscription plans for vendors to join — not for vendors to create their own subscriptions.
Our setup goal is straightforward:
– Vendors subscribe to one of our admin-created membership plans (e.g. Free 7-Day Trial + 50% off for first 6 months, no upfront set up fee).
– Vendors should not have the ability to create or sell subscription products. However, we’re running into confusion and functionality gaps:
1) Please read this support thread (https://multivendorx.com/support-forum/topic/vendor-registration-page-bug/) where the issue was marked “resolved,” but it seems the underlying requirement — admin-defined membership plans with trials and recurring discounts — still isn’t fully supported.
2) We’ve also reviewed your documentation here (https://multivendorx.com/docs/knowledgebase/subscription-product/)
Subscription Product Guide, but this primarily covers vendors creating subscription products, which is not our intended use case. Our main question:
Is WooCommerce Subscriptions now a required dependency for MVX Memberships to offer trials and recurring discounts for admin-created vendor plans? – ie mvxmembershipIf so, we’d like clarification on:
– Whether enabling it would risk giving vendors the ability to create their own subscription products — which we want to avoid.
– Whether MVX is planning to natively support trial and recurring discount logic within the Membership module itself (without requiring an extra paid plugin). It’s very frustrating that these limitations aren’t clearly documented, especially since MVX positions itself as an all-in-one multivendor solution.
We’ve already invested in MVX Pro, and having to buy WooCommerce Subscriptions just to enable what feels like basic membership functionality (trial + discount) doesn’t feel justified — especially if others will benefit from this fix later. We’d appreciate an official, detailed response from your team — ideally with documentation references or a development timeline.
Thank you,

KeymasterHello There,
Thank you for reaching out and for sharing such a detailed explanation of your setup. We truly appreciate the time you’ve taken to outline your use case — it helps us better understand your requirements.
To create membership plans for vendor registration, you only need the MultiVendorX and MultiVendorX Pro plugins. No additional plugins are required for this functionality. You can enable and configure vendor memberships by activating the Marketplace Membership module within MultiVendorX Pro. The same is also mentioned in our documentation here https://multivendorx.com/docs/knowledgebase/marketplace-memberhsip/.
Now as mentioned in the earlier support thread (https://multivendorx.com/support-forum/topic/vendor-registration-page-bug/), in the current flow you can offer vendors a free trial plan. However, for the system to securely capture payment details and ensure uninterrupted renewal after the trial ends, a minimum charge of $1 is required at checkout. This step ensures that the recurring payments are processed smoothly once the trial period expires.
Also as per the current setup, when a coupon is applied during registration for a membership plan, the discount is applied to the recurring fee. However, if the plan includes a trial period, the recurring fee during that period is $0, which means the coupon discount also becomes $0. As a result, during registration, the vendor will only need to pay the initial sign-up amount, and the recurring payments will start once the trial period ends.
That said, we completely understand your concern about the need for a more flexible and transparent membership flow. As you may know, our team is currently working on a major revamp of MultiVendorX, focused on improving existing features and introducing new enhancements based on user feedback. We’re actively progressing with this update and aim to release the revamped version as soon as possible.
In the meantime if you have a specific membership flow in mind or suggestions about how you’d like these features to function, please feel free to share the details with us. We’ll review them with our development team and explore the feasibility of including them in the revamped version.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and continued trust in MultiVendorX. If you have any further questions or clarifications, please don’t hesitate to reach out — we’ll be happy to help.

ParticipantThank you for your response.
We understand the current logic requiring a $1 minimum charge to store payment details, but this unfortunately doesn’t meet our business model requirements. Our use case requires:
– Full trial support (e.g. 7-day free trial) with no initial payment, basically delaying the $1 which we can of course change by a set period.
– The ability to apply recurring discounts (e.g. 50% off for the first 6 months).
– Strict limitation preventing vendors from creating their own subscription products — only admin-defined membership plans should exist.Based on your explanation, it seems these features aren’t fully supported within the current MVX Membership module. We’d like to confirm explicitly if this can be achieved by integrating WooCommerce Subscriptions, as it handles $0 trials and structured recurring discounts natively.
If so, could your team please confirm whether enabling WooCommerce Subscriptions will solve this for us? And what WooCommerce subscriptions should be used for?
We’d also appreciate a timeline or roadmap reference for the upcoming “revamp,” as we need to make a build decision soon.
Thanks again for your attention — we love the platform, but the lack of clarity on this specific membership logic is a significant blocker for us.

KeymasterHi There,
Thank you for getting back to us and for clearly outlining your requirements.
Regarding your queries — the specific flow you’re looking for, which combines a full free trial (with no upfront payment) and a recurring discount (e.g., 50% off for the first 6 months), is not supported by default in the current version of the MultiVendorX Pro Marketplace Membership module.
However, about restricting vendors from creating their own subscription products — this is fully supported within the existing setup. If you simply do not add the “Subscription Product” type under the Allowed Product Types section on the edit product page of Membership Plan page, vendors will not be able to create or sell subscription products from their dashboards.
At present, the WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin is supported for letting vendors create and manage subscription products themselves. It does not influence or extend the functionality of admin-created membership plans in the current version.
As for the upcoming revamp, our team is working diligently to deliver it as soon as possible. This update will include several enhancements and improved flexibility based on user feedback. Once we have a concrete release update or timeline, we’ll be sure to keep you informed.
We truly appreciate your patience and continued trust in MultiVendorX.
